We are on our final day before Spring Break and our last day of c o d i n g. Unit 1 was a

big hit and a great introduction to STEM. The students excelled in coding and were able to coding independently by the end of the 8 weeks. I was blown away by a Kindergarten class that came in the room, sat down, logged in, and quietly started coding. I did not have to give any directions because they knew the procedure. These kids started the class without even knowing how to turn on a computer! I take some credit, but also give the classroom teacher a ton of credit for a great classroom environment of independence.
On to UNIT 2! We are starting our second unit after Spring Break and we will be diving into the world of e l e c t r o n i c s! We have ordered so much supplied with little bits and snap circuits and I cannot wait. Here is an outline of our schedule so far:
Week 1: Procedures and background
Week 2: Introduce the idea of a circuit and hands on stations
Week 3: Invention cycle and inventing
Just like unit 1, I work best with a powerpoint and anchor charts to keep me on task and to have a visual for students. Here is the link for the first 3 Weeks: Electronics powerpoint

More d e t a i l s to come once I actually start teaching the lessons :)
